Gangarru Africa focuses on the heart of the challenge: East Africa, where premature births occur at above-average rates and access to advanced neonatal care is limited. Here, we make a difference not with high-tech, but with right-tech — solutions tailored to the local context.
Our flagship initiative, the Little Heroes Project, partners with hospitals and clinics in Tanzania to implement Kangaroo Care as a standard care protocol. We train local healthcare professionals, provide customized Gangarru carriers, and support the establishment of sustainable KMC programs.
The impact is measurable and life-changing: increased survival rates for premature babies, accelerated weight gain, shorter hospital stays, and empowerment of local healthcare professionals. Our approach works because it is developed with the communities we serve, not for them.
What began in Dar es Salaam has since expanded to the Lake Zone and Zanzibar, with plans for further growth. By collaborating with local partners and government institutions, we ensure that our solutions are not only effective but also sustainably embedded in local healthcare systems.
